1. Website visitors
Like most website operators, Eight Spots collects non-personally-identifying information of the sort that web browsers and servers typically make available, such as the browser type, language preference, referring site, and the date and time of each visitor request. Eight Spots' purpose in collecting non-personally identifying information is to better understand how Eight Spots' visitors use its websites. From time to time, Eight Spots may release non-personally-identifying information in the aggregate, e.g. by publishing a report on trends in the usage of its websites.
2. Gathering of personally-identifying information
When you create an Eight Spots account, including by authorising access through your Facebook account, you allow Eight Spots to collect certain information.
Certain visitors to the Website choose to interact with Eight Spots in ways that require Eight Spots to gather personally-identifying information including, for example, by creating an Eight Spots account. When you do so, you may also authorise Eight Spots to access certain information from your Facebook profile. The information you allow Eight Spots to access varies by interaction, and it is affected by the privacy settings you establish at Facebook. For example, Eight Spots may access and store some or all of the following information, as allowed by you, Facebook and your preferences:
- Your first and last name
- Your profile picture or its URL
- Your Facebook user ID number, which is linked to publically available information such as name and profile picture
- The user ID numbers and names of your friends
- The login e-mail you provided to Facebook when you registered
- Your physical location
- Your gender
- Your birthday
The amount and type of information that Eight Spots gathers depends on the nature of the interaction. Eight Spots does not disclose personally-identifying information other than as described below, and visitors can always refuse to supply personally-identifying information, with the caveat that it may prevent them from engaging in certain website-related activities.
3. Use of collected information
In general, we collect, store and use your information to provide you with a safe, smooth, efficient, and customised experience. For example, we may use information collected from you in any one or more of the following ways:
- to register your Eight Spots account and allow use of the personalised recommendation service
- to identify and suggest connections with other Eight Spots users
- to enable user-to-user communications
- to provide technical support and respond to user inquiries
- to notify users of service updates
- to solicit input and feedback to improve Eight Spots features and services and customise your user experience
- to resolve disputes, collect fees and troubleshoot problems
- to analyse trends and user traffic, and gather statistical information
- to inform users about new products or promotional offers
One important use of your information is communication. If you have provided your e-mail address to Eight Spots, we'll use it to respond to (i) customer support requests, and (ii) keep you informed of your activity, including comments from friends, notifications about status such as when recommendation are received frolm your friends. You always have the choice to stop receiving Promotional Communications. When you receive Promotional Communications from us you will have the opportunity to "opt out" by (i) following the unsubscribe instructions provided in the Promotional Communication you receive or (ii) by editing your preferences. Please note that despite your indicated e-mail preferences, we may still send you administrative messages regarding Eight Spots, including, for example, administrative confirmations and notices of updates to our policies.
3. Aggregated statistics
Eight Spots may collect statistics about the behavior of visitors to the Website. For instance, Eight Spots may monitor activities on the Websitesite to determine who the most influential users are. Eight Spots may display this information publicly or provide it to others. However, in such instances, Eight Spots will only disclose users' names, and will not disclose any other personally-identifying information other than as described below.
4. Protection of certain personally-identifying information
Eight Spots discloses potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information only to those of its employees, contractors, service providers and affiliated organisations that (i) need to know that information in order to process it on Eight Spots' behalf or to provide services available at Eight Spots' websites, and (ii) that have agreed not to disclose it to others. 6. Business transfers
If Eight Spots, or substantially all of its assets were acquired, or in the event that Eight Spots goes out of business or enters bankruptcy, user information would be one of the assets that is transferred or acquired by a third party. You acknowledge that such transfers may occur, and that any acquiror of Eight Spots may continue to use your personal information as set forth in this policy.
9. Eight Spots policy concerning young children
The website is not intended for children under the age of 13 and we do not knowingly collect any personal information from such children. Children under the age of 13 should not use our websites at any time. In the event that we learn that we have inadvertently gathered personal information from children under the age of 13, we will take reasonable measures to promptly erase such information from our records.
